Tasking Types: How to release Tasks to Respondents

There are 3 ways in which you can release your Indeemo tasks to your respondents.

All-at-once Task List

Respondents will see and respond to all tasks in their task list immediately from the moment they first log in (even if it's before the start date of your project).

They can respond to tasks in any order, and can submit any type and any quantity of upload for any task.

Required responses

  • The required responses are available for respondents to see and follow as defined by you
    • Flexible: There are no hard 'requirements' for respondents for submitting uploads.

Scheduled Task List

Respondents will receive tasks based on the schedule/ start time you assign to each task while setting up your task list.

  • They will receive a Push Notification each time a new task is released.
  • Flexible: They can respond to new tasks, even if they have not completed previous tasks

Task End Dates

A task will disappear from the task list for respondents on the date and time set if an end date is added to a task.

We recommend not setting end dates.

There is a trade-off between length of time a task is open, and the volume of data that will be uploaded to that task.

(The shorter the window, the less uploads you will receive!)

If you do wish to limit the length of time a task is available to respondents, we recommend to keep tasks open for a minimum of a few days - at shortest, 24 hours.

  • Ensure to clearly mention this in the Introduction, as well as in the task itself.

Sequential Task List

This is the only type of task list that requires respondents to submit a particular upload type before they can move on to the next task.

Tasks are unlocked one at a time, ensuring respondents follow a specific order.

There are two options of when a task will be released on each task:

1. Immediate

Respondent must submit the required response for current task

  • Then the next task is released immediately

2. Scheduled

You assign a minimum start date and time on a task.

Respondent must submit the required response for current task

  • Then, the next task will release on your defined start date and time

In effect, the next task is unlocked only when two criteria are met:

  • The current task is completed per the define required response, and
  • The start time of the next task has passed.
